CANCUN, Mexico -- More than 800 delegates representing 80 countries met in Cancun from 1-3 December for the 5th Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy. Top government officials, business leaders and senior law enforcement authorities urged national and international political and business leaders to step up actions against counterfeiting and piracy to help boost global economic recovery.

The 5th Global Congress was hosted by INTERPOL

with support from 2009 country host Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI).

The Congress has emerged as the pre-eminent global forum for shaping practical strategies to meet the shared challenges posed by the worldwide problem of counterfeiting and piracy. The event brings together top government and private sector representatives to pool their experience to enhance international coordination and cooperation and seek more effective solutions in pursuit of the common goal of combating counterfeiting and piracy.

The Global Congress is convened by:
